The construction sector accounted for almost 30 per cent of Kyrgyzstan’s GDP growth

The construction sector became the main driver of Kyrgyzstan’s economy in January–May 2026. The sector made the largest contribution to the country’s GDP growth, which reached 12.2 per cent.

According to the EABR, the construction sector accounted for 3.6 percentage points of economic growth. The sector was supported by the implementation of the ‘My Home’ state programme, the construction of social infrastructure and the commissioning of a number of small hydroelectric power stations.

Industry made an additional contribution, with the production of base metals rising by 12.4 per cent. Domestic economic activity was also supported by growth in consumer demand: trade volumes increased by 10.4 per cent, whilst real wages rose by 9.9 per cent.

The EABR expects domestic demand and investment to remain key drivers of economic growth. The bank forecasts that Kyrgyzstan’s GDP will grow by 10.2% by the end of 2026.
