07/02/2026, 10:22With effect from 1 July 2026, the official spelling of the national currency in Russian has been changed from ‘тенге’ to ‘теңге’ in Kazakhstani legislation. The relevant amendments have been made to the Tax Code and a number of regulatory documents issued by the National Bank.
The changes are intended to bring the spelling of the national currency into line with the official form ‘теңге’.
In addition, in the National Bank’s documents, the word ‘foreigner’ has been replaced by ‘foreign citizen’, and the term ‘information systems’ by ‘digital systems’.
Furthermore, in the Tax Code, the reference to ‘Parliament’ has been replaced with ‘Kurultai’, the name ‘Kazakhstan People’s Council’ has been added, and the phrase ‘republican referendum’ has been changed to ‘national referendum’.
Furthermore, the state fee for applying to the Constitutional Court has been removed from the Tax Code in connection with changes to the legislation.
