04/27/2026, 10:51Teachers at general education institutions in Kyrgyzstan are to receive a monthly allowance for marking exercise books. The basic amount is 2,700 soms. This was announced today, 27 April, at a press conference by Akiykat Baimuratova, Head of the Department of Budget Policy, Financial Analysis and Infrastructure at the Ministry of Education.
The payment is intended for teachers with a standard teaching load: 16 hours per week for teachers of Years 1–4 and 18 hours per week for teachers of Years 5–11.
The allowance will be paid to teachers in primary schools who teach Kyrgyz, Russian, Uzbek and Tajik, as well as the corresponding subjects of reading, foreign languages and mathematics. In Years 5–11, the allowance is also provided for teachers of Kyrgyz, Russian, Uzbek and Tajik, foreign languages and mathematics.
If a teacher’s actual weekly workload exceeds or falls short of the established standard, the amount of the payment will be calculated in proportion to the number of teaching hours. Thus, the amount of the supplement may be increased or reduced depending on the teaching workload.
The new measure is aimed at providing additional support for teachers and ensuring fairer remuneration for their work, taking into account the time spent marking pupils’ written work.
