An ounce of the National Bank's gold bullion lost more than 9,000 KGS in a single day

The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has lowered the prices of standard gold bars. On May 29, the price of one troy ounce of gold was 403,503 KGS.

The day before, on May 28, an ounce was selling for 412,709 KGS. Thus, over the course of a day, the price of gold fell by 9,206 KGS, or 2.2%.

The buyback price also fell. While on May 28 the National Bank was willing to buy an ounce of gold for 389,192 KGS, on May 29 the price dropped to 388,619 KGS. The loss amounted to 573 KGS.

The decline also affected other types of standard bars. Thus, the price of a one-gram bar decreased from 14,558 KGS to 14,292.5 KGS, and that of a five-gram bar—from 67,953 KGS to 66,463 KGS.

The decline in the price of gold in Kyrgyzstan reflects trends in the global precious metals market, as the National Bank’s prices are calculated based on gold quotations on international exchanges and the current U.S. dollar exchange rate.
