Kamila Talieva noted that there has been an increase in the number of settlements in forest areas in Kyrgyzstan, leading to a reduction in forest cover. She also emphasised that every year, anthropogenic impact on forests is growing (population growth, increase in livestock numbers, development of tourism, intensive land use).
«In the current circumstances, institutional reform is needed, including improving legislation and increasing the efficiency of forest management, use and development on a sustainable basis. In this regard, for effective management of forest resources and resolution of environmental issues, it is necessary to consider the establishment of a separate state body in the field of forestry. This will improve the level of forest protection», — she stressed.
