The company registered as a payment system and was included in the register of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan on 2 April this year.
The operator is JSC National Interbank Processing Centre (Uzbekistan).
The decision to register Humo may be part of a broader initiative to launch mutual acquiring between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. This involves the possibility of accepting Uzbek Humo cards in the Kyrgyz retail and banking infrastructure and, accordingly, Kyrgyz Elkart cards in Uzbekistan.
Back in April 2024, the Interbank Processing Centre of Kyrgyzstan took part in a conference dedicated to the fifth anniversary of Humo. It was then that the idea of a mutual acquiring project was announced.
On 13 January 2025, the State Agency for Asset Management of the Republic of Uzbekistan announced the sale of 100% of the state-owned stake in the National Interbank Processing Centre to Paynet. The transaction amounted to $65 million.
