Waste utilization plant for electricity generation was never built in Bishkek

The plant to produce electricity based on waste utilization in Bishkek was never built. This was reported by Aizada Barieva, Head of the Climate Policy Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, at a forum dedicated to the start of work on ENVI 3.0 - a strategic document to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation to climate change under the Paris Agreement commitments.

According to her, the reason was the lack of own financial resources and lack of investment. In addition, a feasibility study was not submitted, taking into account the current electricity tariffs and expected costs associated with waste utilization.

At the same time, Barieva noted positive results: construction of a sanitary landfill in the city of Osh began in the second half of the year.
