The facility is designed to relieve the load on the existing lines ‘Novo-Yuzhnaya’, ‘Archa-Beshik’ and ‘Pikova Boiler House’ and provide the capital with a more stable power supply.
Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev, who attended the ceremony, emphasised that the construction of the substation was part of a large-scale programme to modernise the country's energy infrastructure.
‘We are implementing projects that should guarantee the long-term sustainability of the energy system,’ he said. ‘The new Muras substation will allow the stadium under construction, residential complexes, Eurasia Park and a number of business centres to be connected to the grid.’
The construction was financed by OJSC National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan, and the work was carried out by its subsidiary, the Bishkek Electric Grid Company. According to the company's management, the project has become one of the key projects in the strategic development of the capital's power grid.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of OJSC ‘NESK’ Asylbek Turdubaev, General Director Ilgiz Sydygaeliev and Director of the Bishkek Electric Networks Enterprise Asylbek Paizov.
The substation was built on a 50-acre site next to the Muras Stadium. The facility is equipped with modern equipment, including a 40 MVA power transformer, SF6 circuit breakers and a 10 kV switchgear.
