07/22/2026, 14:14The Mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Dzhunushaliyev, inspected the progress of the reconstruction work on Elebesov, Bezymyannaya, Kozhevennaya and Kyrgyzskaya Streets.
During his visit to Elebesova Street, the mayor met with residents who raised the issue of the construction of sewerage networks. Following the meeting, the mayor instructed the municipal enterprise ‘Bishkekvodokanal’ to investigate the feasibility of laying sewerage pipes within three days and to provide an official response.
On Kozhevennaya Street, Aibek Dzhunushaliev instructed that the area falling within the reconstruction zone be cleared. In particular, it is necessary to remove the barriers, including the fence of Fire and Rescue Station No. 2 of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The mayor also inspected the works on Kyrgyzskaya Street – on the section stretching from Saadaev Street to the Northern Ring Road.
According to the project, a 4.1-kilometre section is to be reconstructed here. Once the work is complete, the road will be widened to four lanes, each 16 metres wide. In addition, the project includes the construction of two pavements, the installation of a drainage system and the widening of the existing bridge.
Initially, the plan was to carry out only the resurfacing of the road. However, following appeals from residents and in line with the city council’s requirements, a decision was taken to construct the sewerage networks first.
“It is wrong to build the road first and then dig it up again a few years later to lay sewerage pipes”, — noted Aibek Dzhunushaliev.
According to the city council, the new sewerage network will provide services to around 2,000 residents. Once the utility works have been completed, the road will be resurfaced.
The city council noted that the construction work may cause temporary inconvenience to residents, but once the project is complete, the infrastructure in these areas will be improved.
