Ten food trucks will be set up in Bishkek to sell meat at subsidised prices

Today, 10 July, a handover ceremony was held for mobile food trucks intended to sell meat at affordable prices, attended by Erlist Akunbekov, Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and the Processing Industry.

The event was attended by the management of Kyrgyz Agroholding OJSC, the First Deputy Mayor of Bishkek, Kubanychbek Imanaliev, and ministry officials.

The food trucks were prepared by OJSC ‘Kyrgyz Agroholding’, which falls under the Ministry’s jurisdiction. In collaboration with Bishkek City Council, they will be deployed across all districts of the capital.

As part of the pilot project, 10 food trucks have been put into operation. There are plans to increase this number in the future.

According to Minister Erlist Akunbekov, the project has been implemented without drawing on funds from the national budget.

“Through ‘Kyrgyz Agroholding’, the Ministry is implementing this social project using its own funds, generated from the enterprise’s commercial activities. This demonstrates that state-owned companies are capable not only of operating efficiently, but also of successfully fulfilling important social objectives. The meat will be sold to the public without a retail mark-up. Currently, the price stands at 680 soms per kilogram. To ensure the project retains its social focus, no more than 5 kilograms of meat will be allocated per person”, — the minister noted.

Kubanychbek Imanaliev, First Deputy Mayor of Bishkek, reported that the city council is working closely with Kyrgyz Agroholding OJSC. Twelve sites have now been prepared to accommodate food trucks, and the municipality is ready to provide additional locations.
