A modern logistics centre designed to store 400 tonnes of seed potatoes will open in the village of Daroot-Korgon, Chon-Alai district, Osh region.

The centre consists of two cold storage rooms, each with a capacity of 200 tonnes. There is also an area for sorting potatoes on the premises.

The construction of the cold storage rooms was financed from various sources: Osh Region – 5 million soms, Chon-Alai District Administration – 5 million soms, Chon-Alai Ayil Okmotu – 1 million soms, international organisation Good Neighbours – more than 12 million soms as part of a comprehensive rural development project in Kyrgyzstan.

The facility is being built with the support of Kyrgyzstan, and Good Neighbors is providing production equipment, including two refrigeration units, an ethylene absorber, two industrial humidifiers, a 125 kW generator, an electric forklift, and wooden storage containers.

In addition, seed potatoes of the ‘super-super elite’ variety, imported from Colombia, have already been planted at the centre. The main goal of the project is to develop export-oriented potato production.

The creation of this logistics centre will be an important step towards improving the sustainability and yield of seed potatoes, ensuring high-quality storage of products and expanding support for farms in the region.
