One hectare has been planted with Mustang Italia, Mustang Hamburg and Victoria seedlings imported from Serbia.
The seedlings are being planted in a 1.7 metre by 3 metre pattern, which provides favourable conditions for plant development and effective care.
This is the first time Serbian planting material has been used in the region to improve the commercial and technological characteristics of the harvest.
The initiative fits in well with the overall positive trends in the industry.
At the end of 2024, the gross grape harvest in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 5,990.1 tonnes, an increase of 17.2% compared to the previous year. Yields increased from 12.3 to 22.6 centners per hectare, despite a decrease in the total area under cultivation.
The highest growth rates were recorded in the Osh region, with a 74% increase in gross harvest, in the Chui region, with an increase of 238 tonnes, in the Jalal-Abad region, with almost a threefold increase in yield, and in the Batken region, with more than a twofold increase in yield.
Given the favourable agro-climatic conditions and growing demand, viticulture is considered a promising area for the diversification of agricultural production.
To support and develop the industry, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a programme for the development of horticulture and viticulture for 2025-2029.
The implementation of the programme is expected to significantly strengthen the country's food security, expand exports of fruit and vegetable products and create new jobs in rural areas.
