A new reservoir is planned to be built in the Jalal-Abad region

The Water Resources Service management made a working trip to the Jalal-Abad region. During the visit, all districts were visited, where the delegation familiarised itself with the activities of water management facilities and the implementation of new projects.

The first facility visited during the trip was the Dostuk pumping station. Six units and six electric motors are installed here, enabling the station to supply 1,650 litres of water per second, providing 1,000 hectares of irrigated land with the necessary water.

The delegation then visited the Zheltybes pumping station in the Aksysky district, which was commissioned in 1979. This facility plays a key role in supplying water to 858 hectares of land. The station has three pumps, two of which operate continuously and one is in reserve.

During the visit, a new large-scale project in the Suzak district was discussed: the construction of a seasonal reservoir (BSR) with a capacity of 17 million cubic metres. Once this project is implemented, 19,284 hectares of irrigated land in the Kok-Arta Valley will be reliably supplied with water, which will increase crop yields and make a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the district.

The delegation also inspected the condition of the Kuibyshev Canal in the Toktogul district. It is 19.3 kilometres long and is in poor technical condition, requiring reconstruction. Once renovated, the efficiency of irrigation water use will increase and local farmers will be able to achieve higher yields. The necessary documents have been prepared and reconstruction is planned for 2025.

In addition, the delegation visited the Sol-Zheek inter-farm canal in the Bazar-Korgon district. It irrigates 9,000 hectares of land, where mainly perennial grasses, wheat, corn, cotton and rice are grown.
