06/04/2026, 10:04The Eurasian Economic Union has drawn up draft amendments to the list of standards used to assess the conformity of tobacco products with the requirements of technical regulations. The document provides for the updating of a number of existing GOST standards and their alignment with international ISO standards.
In particular, there are plans to update the methods for determining the tar, nicotine and water content in cigarette smoke, as well as the standards for conditioning and testing tobacco. Certain outdated GOST standards will be replaced by new versions developed on the basis of international practice.
The draft resolution has been put out for public consultation. Once this process is complete, the document may be considered and approved in accordance with the established procedure. As noted in the explanatory memorandum, the changes are of a technical nature, do not introduce new restrictions and will not entail additional expenditure for the EAEU budget.
