The project involves replacing outdated equipment, introducing new technologies and optimising the power generation process, which will increase the plant's capacity, improve its overall production capabilities, and extend the service life of the equipment.
The Uch-Korgon HPP has four hydroelectric units with a total capacity of 45 MW each. In 2024, it is planned to reconstruct hydro unit No. 4, which will increase its capacity by 9 MW, while the modernisation of hydro unit No. 3 will also increase its capacity by 9 MW. Currently, the total capacity of the plant is 189 MW.
The equipment has not been reconstructed since the HPP was built in 1962. The project on reconstruction and modernisation of hydropower unit No. 3 at Uch-Korgon HPP will be implemented by CNEEC (China National Electric Engineering).
