03/02/2026, 14:11In Kara-Balta, representatives of state agencies visited the oil refinery to assess the progress of its modernisation. The visit took place at the invitation of the investor as part of a major project, which is due to be completed by 31 July 2026.
Employees of the National Investment Agency under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, together with representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, the Kara-Balta City Hall and the Akbashat District Administration, visited the oil refinery of China Petroleum Company Junda LLC. The purpose of the visit was to assess the current stage of the plant's modernisation.
The visit took place at the official invitation of the company and investor, China Shaanxi Coal Chemical Industry Corporation. Participants were presented with the progress of the project to overhaul and upgrade the existing plant.
The refinery, with a capacity of 800,000 tonnes per year, is considered one of the largest investment projects being implemented in Kyrgyzstan. The modernisation project is being carried out within the framework of the Investment Agreement between the National Investment Agency and Sredneazatskaya Energeticheskaya Kompaniya LLC. An additional agreement provides for an increase in the volume of investments to $193.75 million.
According to the terms of the agreements, the modernisation is planned to be completed by 31 July 2026. During the visit, representatives of state authorities familiarised themselves with the degree of readiness of production facilities and the current construction and installation works.
