06/18/2026, 13:09A modernised drinking water supply system has been commissioned in the Kara-Sui District of the Osh Region. Erlist Akunbekov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and the Processing Industry, attended the opening ceremony.
The project was implemented as part of the ‘Otuz-Adyr’ sub-project and covers 12 settlements in the Otuz-Adyr and Savay-Aryk aiyl aimaks, home to around 30,000 people.
As part of the modernisation, a 300-cubic-metre reservoir was built in the village of Oktyabr, 11.4 kilometres of new water supply networks were laid, and a sanitary protection zone for the facility was established. The work carried out is aimed at providing residents with high-quality and uninterrupted drinking water.
Speaking at the ceremony, Erlist Akunbekov emphasised that providing the population with clean drinking water remains one of the priorities of state policy. According to him, the implementation of the project will improve the reliability of the municipal infrastructure and the quality of water supply services.
In addition, specialised equipment – an excavator and a sewage truck – was handed over to the local water utility. The new equipment will help to respond promptly to emergencies and improve the operational efficiency of water supply facilities.
It is expected that the modernised system will significantly improve the quality of water supply for residents of the settlements covered by the project.
