A new irrigation canal is being constructed in the Kara-Kuldzhinsky district

Today, 29 May, Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev, as part of a working trip to the Osh region, visited the site of the new Karaguz-Zhan-Talaa irrigation canal in the Kara-Kuldzhinsky district to inspect the progress of construction.

This canal is an important hydraulic engineering structure aimed at solving the problem of irrigation water shortage in the district.

The total area of irrigated land covered by the canal is 680 hectares, and its total length is 7.2 kilometres.

The canal will provide irrigation water to two ayakh districts: Karakulzhin and Karaguz.
These settlements mainly grow wheat, barley, perennial crops and all kinds of vegetables. The new canal will provide them with sufficient irrigation water, contributing to stable agricultural production.

«The development of irrigation infrastructure contributes to increased agricultural yields, systematic resolution of water issues and improved quality of life in rural areas. Such infrastructure projects play a key role in ensuring the country's food security and the effective use of its agricultural potential», — said Bakyt Torobaev.

Construction work on the canal began in autumn 2023 and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025.
