The Kyrgyz Military Prosecutor’s Office has uncovered a persistent corruption scheme involving the systematic embezzlement of public funds at the State Hydrometeorological Service under the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, officials at Kyrgyzhydromet had, over a long period, been illegally transferring funds to both previously dismissed staff and certain current employees. The amounts paid significantly exceeded the prescribed limits.
Preliminary data suggest that these actions caused material damage to the state on an exceptionally large scale — 16 million KGS.
A criminal case has been opened in connection with this matter. The necessary investigative measures are currently being carried out.
According to the investigation, the corruption scheme had been operating for a long time and was organised in such a way as to conceal the unlawful expenditure of budget funds.
The investigation is being conducted by the Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic. The General Prosecutor’s Office reported on the scheme that had been uncovered.
