In Kyrgyzstan, the number of passenger cars increased by 13% over the past year

As of January 1, 2026, there were 1.4 million passenger cars owned by citizens in Kyrgyzstan—13% more than a year earlier. This translates to 191 cars per 1,000 residents.

These figures were published by the National Statistics Committee in honor of Automotive and Road Workers’ Day, which is celebrated on October 25.

The Chui Region had the highest number of passenger cars per 1,000 residents—288—while in Bishkek, this figure stood at 260.

Road transport also remains the primary mode for carrying freight and passengers. In 2025, it transported more than 62 million metric tons of freight—over 80% of the total volume—while approximately 660 million passengers used buses and taxis.
