In Kyrgyzstan, the number of tax evasion cases increased by 63%

In Kyrgyzstan, 1,940 economic crimes were recorded in January-November 2025. This is 11.1% more than in the same period in 2024 (1,700 cases). This is evidenced by official statistics from law enforcement agencies.

The sharpest increase was recorded in tax evasion. The number of such crimes increased from 38 to 62 cases, a 63.2% increase in annual terms. This is the fastest growing segment of economic crime.

At the same time, the number of cases involving smuggling decreased from 83 to 68 (-18.1%) and cases involving embezzlement and misappropriation of entrusted property decreased from 99 to 92 (-7.1%). Nevertheless, the overall number of economic crimes continued to grow due to tax and corruption offenses.

The number of corruption crimes also increased sharply. In January–November, 93 corruption crimes were registered, compared to 64 a year earlier — an increase of 45.3%.

Bribery is also growing rapidly. The number of such cases increased from 194 to 272, or an increase of 40.2%. At the same time, cases of abuse of office decreased (from 701 to 648), as did cases of abuse of power (from 33 to 28).

During this period, a total of 19,583 people were identified as having committed crimes in Kyrgyzstan, which is 8.2% more than the previous year.

Of these

  • women accounted for 12.4%,
  • minors accounted for 8.3%,
  • and 66% were unemployed and not in education.

In terms of age, the majority of offenders were citizens over 29 years of age — 12,038 people, which is also an increase compared to 2024.

The total number of crimes registered in the country for January–November 2025 was 32,173, which is lower than in 2024 (33,653).

The 8.9% decrease in property crimes was due to a drop in the number of robberies (-25.1%) and thefts (-18.5%). However, extortion (+31.6%), robbery (+3.5%), and fraud (+2.4%) are on the rise.
