In Kyrgyzstan, the share of small and medium-sized businesses in GDP has risen to 51%

The share of small and medium-sized businesses in Kyrgyzstan’s economy has risen from 40% to 51% of gross domestic product over the past three years, Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev reported at a meeting on the development and support of entrepreneurship.

According to him, the growth in the contribution of small and medium-sized businesses has become one of the indicators of sustainable economic growth and the strengthening role of entrepreneurship in the country’s economic structure.

“The share of small and medium-sized businesses in GDP has increased to 51%. This is an important indicator of sustainable economic growth,” Kasymaliev stated.

Growth of more than 10 percentage points means that small and medium-sized businesses have effectively strengthened their significance as one of the key drivers of the economy—from trade and services to manufacturing and rural entrepreneurship.

Business support in the regions was discussed separately at the meeting. The Prime Minister stated that development funds should pay more attention to projects in rural areas and expand support for enterprising entrepreneurs.

One of the central topics was the draft Program for the Support and Development of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses through 2030, which has been tasked with approval as soon as possible.

The document provides for expanding business access to financing through preferential loan products, interest rate subsidies, and guarantee mechanisms. The program also includes measures for training entrepreneurs, accelerating projects, and providing project support.

Meeting participants also discussed the implementation of the current project for preferential business lending through interest rate subsidies.
