The initiative is implemented with the support of the UN FAO within the framework of the global project “One Country - One Priority Product”.
The project aims to turn Kyrgyz walnut - a unique natural product from the relict forests of Jalal-Abad region - into a recognizable national brand with export potential. The meeting discussed the development of a marketing strategy, brand identity, eco-friendly packaging, digital promotion and even the preparation of a separate draft law.
Participants noted that the Kyrgyz Zhangak brand should not just look beautiful, but should be legally protected, strictly standardized and well positioned in international markets. MP Emil Toktoshev stated his readiness to support the initiative in Parliament.
The creation of the brand, as noted in the Ministry of Agriculture, will give a new impetus to the development of rural areas, especially for families living by collecting and processing nuts. Special emphasis will be placed on the participation of women and local communities in the production chain.
The Kyrgyz Zhangak project promises to become not only an economic opportunity, but also an image step for Kyrgyzstan as a country that supplies organic and environmentally friendly products.
