Construction has begun in Kyrgyzstan on the $166 million “Tulkubash” gold mining complex

Construction has begun on the “Tulkubash” gold mining project in the Chatkal District of the Jalal-Abad Region. Chaarat Zaav CJSC plans to build a gold mining and processing complex with an expected annual production of approximately 110,000 ounces. Investment in the construction is estimated at $166 million.

A ceremonial laying of the time capsule took place on October 15, 2026, at the project site. The ceremony was attended by Tilik Tekebaev, the President’s Plenipotentiary Representative in the Jalal-Abad Region; representatives of the company, OJSC “Kygyzaltyn,” government agencies, and local authorities; members of local councils; and residents of the district.

“Chaarat Zaav” is a joint venture between the Canadian company Silvercorp Metals and Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC. The company previously conducted geological exploration in the Chatkal District and developed the “Tulkubash” and “Kyzyltash” projects.

According to Tileq Tekebaev, the transition to the construction of production infrastructure should expand the region’s economic opportunities.

“Tulkubash” will be the first phase of the “Chaarat” deposit’s development. At the same time, the company is laying the groundwork for the further implementation of the “Kyzyltash” project.

Hong Sun, a member of the board of directors of Chaarat Zaav CJSC, stated that the company intends to organize construction work on a scientific and technical basis and ensure oversight of all stages of the project’s implementation.
Production at “Tulkubash” is scheduled to begin between 2028 and 2031.
