Construction of a training centre for genomic evaluation of animals has begun in Kyrgyzstan

A ceremony was held at the Kyrgyz Institute of Animal Husbandry and Pastures in the village of Frunze to mark the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of a training centre for animal genome evaluation and a dormitory for specialists. The event was attended by Bakyt Torobaev, Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry.

As part of the event, participants also visited the agricultural animal biotechnology department, where they learned about current research trends in the field of animal husbandry.

The creation of the training centre will be an important step for the development of agricultural science and the introduction of innovations. The new complex will be equipped with modern equipment and will become a platform for training specialists, conducting genetic research and introducing biotechnological methods aimed at increasing productivity and improving the genetic potential of livestock.

The project is being implemented with the support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) as part of the programme ‘Improving the genetic indicators of beef and dairy cattle and increasing the potential of veterinary specialists in the Kyrgyz Republic’.
