Discussions held in Bishkek on how to identify degraded pastures

With the participation of the organisations Camp Ala-Too and GIZ (German Society for International Cooperation), a discussion was held on the procedure for monitoring and evaluating pasture lands at the local level.

The event was attended by experts led by Adilet Sotovaldiyev, Director of the Veterinary, Livestock Development, Pastures and Feed Service. During the discussion, the main provisions of the document were reviewed and the draft was prepared for submission to the relevant ministries and state bodies for approval.

The purpose of the regulation is to accurately identify degraded pasture land at the local level, assess its condition and create a unified electronic database. This initiative is aimed at the effective use of pasture resources, the preservation of environmental sustainability and the improvement of the pasture management system.

The draft clearly defines the responsibilities and rights of district state administrations, local self-government bodies and authorised state bodies, and establishes the procedure for monitoring and assessing pastures.

Participants in the event noted that the implementation of this project will contribute to greater transparency in pasture management and strengthen environmental and social responsibility at the local level.
