This was reported by the Ministry of Agriculture following surveys conducted by specialists from the Chui-Bishkek Directorate of the Department of Plant Protection, Chemicalization, and Quarantine in collaboration with local authorities.
Inspections were carried out in the upper zones of the Frunze, Kuram, and Orto-Kaiyndy aiyl aimaks in the Panfilov District, as well as on the pastures of the Nizhny Chuy aiyl aimak in the Sokuluk District.
In total, the survey covered 2,610 hectares, of which nearly half—1,250 hectares—were found to be affected by pest outbreaks.
Reports have already been compiled for the identified areas, and authorities are moving on to the next stage—containing the spread through chemical treatment.
This marks the start of the seasonal locust control campaign, which is crucial for protecting pastures and farmland.
