09/04/2026, 16:27In Kyrgyzstan, catch limits have been set for 2026 on certain fish species in river waters for sport and recreational fishing.
This has been reported by the Department of Fisheries.
The restrictions apply, in particular, to the Issyk-Kul trout, the Amu Darya trout and the river osman. These species may only be caught within the established quotas.
Once the quota has been fully utilised, fishing for these species will be prohibited. Exceeding the established catch limit is considered illegal fishing and is punishable under Kyrgyz law.
The department has urged members of the public to familiarise themselves with the current requirements before going fishing and to comply with the established restrictions.
