More than 190 previously illegally constructed properties have been legalised in Kyrgyzstan

In Kyrgyzstan, more than 190 properties that had previously been built without the necessary planning permission have been legalised. This was announced by the Minister for Construction, Architecture and Housing and Communal Services, Nordan Oruntaev, as part of the ‘Open Cabinet’ project.

According to him, by the end of 2023, more than 200 illegally constructed properties had been identified in the country, in which people were already living. Before being legalised, each of them underwent technical inspections, tests and expert assessments to ensure compliance with safety and earthquake-resistance requirements.

In a number of cases, owners had to rectify the identified breaches, after which the buildings received the necessary certificates and technical passports.

The Minister noted that some of the problematic properties remain unresolved, but work on them is continuing.

As an example, Oruntayev cited the ‘Dolot Kurulush’ residential complex. According to him, a state-owned company was set up to complete the construction; it took over management of the project, concluded agreements with investors and secured funding from outside the state budget.

“There are projects that we have not yet managed to get off the ground, but we are taking the necessary measures for each of them”, — the minister noted.
