According to the farmer, next year he plans to install a drip irrigation system, taking advantage of a government support scheme offering preferential terms for the reclamation of previously unused land.
“I really like the 20/80 project. Under this programme, the water management authority installs the drip irrigation system itself. Twenty per cent of the income generated is paid to the state each year”, — said Kozhobaev.
The farmer currently sells his harvest on the domestic market. Once the drip irrigation system is in place, he expects to increase his yields and begin exporting his produce.
The Aravan District administration notes that hundreds of local farmers have already taken advantage of preferential loans. The state support they have received enables them to develop new land, introduce modern irrigation technologies and supply their produce for export.
