Kyrgyzstan to introduce uniform pricing policy and strengthen control over socially important goods

Under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev, a meeting was held at the Presidential Administration to discuss measures to curb price increases for socially important goods.

Measures to strengthen price monitoring, regulate exports and imports, control inflation, and introduce state regulation mechanisms were discussed.

The Antimonopoly Regulation Service and the National Statistics Committee have been instructed to monitor the prices of meat, vegetable oil, flour, potatoes, sugar, carrots, and onions in Bishkek and Osh on a daily basis and send the data to the Presidential Administration.

The State Tax Service will consider reducing VAT on imported products, and the National Bank will consider options for preferential lending to farmers and livestock breeders. The Bishkek City Hall, together with Kyrgyz Agroholding, will organize municipal pavilions for the sale of socially important goods, and a similar approach will be implemented in the regions.

Bakyt Torobaev emphasized that 88% of arable land is used by the population, and 65% of citizens receive income from agriculture. According to him, the government is continuing to work on a unified pricing policy and its control.

The list of socially significant goods in Kyrgyzstan includes 50 items for which state price regulation may be introduced.
