07/21/2026, 12:42Kyrgyzstan presented its experience of developing agricultural co-operation and measures to support farmers during the panel session ‘EAEU Co-operation — An Additional Tool for the Development of Crop Production’, held in the Altai Republic.
The event was attended by Bakyt Mambetov, Director of the Department for the Assessment of Agricultural Crops and Horticulture at the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan, and Birzhan Usubaliev, Director of the Institute of Agriculture.
During the session, the Kyrgyz delegation spoke about the development of agricultural cooperatives, state support for farmers and prospects for cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union.
As noted, 65 new agricultural cooperatives were established in Kyrgyzstan during the first half of 2026. To date, there are 886 cooperatives operating in the country, cultivating more than 56,000 hectares of farmland.
According to Bakyt Mambetov, integration within the EAEU contributes to the expansion of trade and production links between countries. He noted that, over the years of Kyrgyzstan’s membership of the Union, mutual trade with EAEU countries has almost doubled – from $2.5 billion to $5 billion.
The meeting participants also discussed the development of the EAEU’s common market for agricultural plant seeds, joint research projects, the digitalisation of the agro-industrial sector, and issues relating to plant breeding, seed production and the processing of agricultural produce.
Kyrgyzstan reaffirmed its readiness to continue cooperation within the EAEU and to implement joint projects aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the agri-industrial sector, introducing modern technologies and strengthening food security.
