Kyrgyzstan’s quota for duty-free imports of electric vehicles has been exhausted

An additional quota of 10,000 electric vehicles for duty-free import into Kyrgyzstan has been fully utilised. This is evidenced by data published on the official website of the State Customs Service.

For 2026, Kyrgyzstan was allocated a quota to import 15,000 electric vehicles with exemption from the 15 per cent customs duty. However, by July, the set limit had already been fully exhausted.

Subsequently, in August, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission decided to grant Kyrgyzstan an additional quota for a further 10,000 electric vehicles. The decision came into force on 20 August 2026.

According to data from the Customs Service, this additional quota has now also been used up.

Consequently, the 25,000 slots originally allocated to Kyrgyzstan for the duty-free import of electric vehicles in 2026 were fully utilised in less than nine months.

Once the quota has been exhausted, the standard 15 per cent customs duty will be levied on imports of electric vehicles.
