Events aimed at combating illegal migration are taking place in Kyrgyzstan

For the first time in Kyrgyzstan, regional simulation exercises on combating human trafficking and illegal migration are being held.

The event is organised jointly with the Office of the OSCE Special Representative and Co-ordinator on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, with the participation of more than 100 representatives from Central Asian countries and Turkey.

The event was officially opened by Bakyt Darmankul uulu, Deputy Minister of Labour, Social Security and Migration. In his welcoming speech, he emphasised the relevance of the topic and the importance of intergovernmental cooperation in combating human trafficking.

«Human trafficking is one of the most disturbing crimes of our time. It undermines the foundations of human rights and requires clear, coordinated action by all states in the region. Kyrgyzstan considers combating this phenomenon a national priority. Holding such a large-scale simulation exercise in our republic is a significant step towards strengthening inter-agency cooperation, improving the qualifications of specialists and developing common approaches», — the deputy minister noted.

The event is attended by representatives of the General Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Labour, lawyers, social workers and experts.
The main objective of the exercises is to develop practical skills for identifying, protecting and redirecting victims of human trafficking, as well as to improve coordination between agencies at the national and regional levels.
