08/11/2026, 18:00Construction of a large waste treatment plant is well under way in Osh. The city’s mayor, Zhanarbek Akayev, has previously visited the construction site on several occasions to review the progress of the work.
The project is being implemented by the Chinese company ‘Junxin Huanbao KG Invest’. Once the plant reaches full capacity, it will be able to process up to 310,000 tonnes of waste per year – or more than 800 tonnes per day – and generate electricity as a by-product.
Construction work is currently underway across all sections of the site. Around 200 construction workers are employed on site.
It is expected that the plant’s commissioning will help resolve the issue of waste disposal in Osh, as well as reduce the negative impact on the environment.
