08/17/2026, 18:00Plans are in place to build a new ‘Isanova’ substation with a voltage rating of 220/110/10 kV in the Osh Region. The project is being implemented as part of the first phase of the ‘Renewable Energy Development in the Kyrgyz Republic’ (KRED) programme and aims to increase the capacity and reliability of the national electricity grid.
Funding of $35.5 million has been allocated to strengthen the electricity transmission system as part of the project. The substation will be connected to the national power system via high-voltage power lines.
The project involves the construction of 110 kV power lines along the routes ‘Isanova’–‘Kara-Shoro’, ‘Isanova’–‘Kara-Kulja’ and ‘Isanova’ – ‘Karatai’, as well as a connection to the 220 kV ‘Datka–Uzlovaya’ line. The total length of the new power lines will be approximately 76 km.
Preparations for the design and tender documentation are currently underway. The implementation of the project will enable the creation of additional infrastructure for connecting new generation facilities, including hydro and solar power stations. In the long term, the ‘Isanova’ substation will become one of the key elements in expanding the capacity of Kyrgyzstan’s power system to integrate renewable energy sources.
