14.1 million fish fry are planned to be released into Lake Issyk-Kul

Work continues in the country to preserve and reproduce fish resources, according to the Department of Fisheries.

The plan for the artificial reproduction of valuable fish species in Lake Issyk-Kul and Lake Son-Kul has been agreed with the Institute of Biology of the National Academy of Sciences.
In accordance with this plan, the lakes will be stocked annually with fry of Issyk-Kul trout, carp (sazan), and sig-ludoga.

According to plans for 2026, 14.1 million fry are to be released into Lake Issyk-Kul and 3.5 million into Lake Son-Kul.

According to the Institute of Biology, there are currently 26 species of fish in Lake Issyk-Kul. The measures taken are aimed at increasing fish stocks and preserving the ecological balance of aquatic ecosystems.

In addition, specialists from the Department of Fisheries, together with employees of the diving service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Tourist and Environmental Police, regularly conduct raids to combat poaching on Lake Issyk-Kul and Lake Son-Kul. As part of these activities, the lakes are regularly cleaned of illegally installed synthetic nets.
