Last year, trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan amounted to $36 million

Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliyev met with Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda, who arrived in the country on a working visit to participate in the first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Council.

"The resolution of border issues is truly a historic event that creates a solid foundation for the development of friendly and good-neighborly relations between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. I would like to emphasize that the further development and deepening of comprehensive cooperation with Tajikistan is one of the priorities of the foreign policy of the Kyrgyz Republic. In 2025, our countries' efforts were focused on restoring and intensifying trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation, improving the socio-economic conditions of life for the population of the border areas, as well as further developing and deepening Kyrgyz-Tajik ties in all areas of bilateral interaction", — said the head of the cabinet of ministers.

Adylbek Kasymaliyev continued that last year, trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan amounted to $36 million, an increase of almost 24 times compared to the same period in 2024.

The head of the Cabinet noted that the leaders of the two countries had set a target of increasing trade turnover to $500 million and expressed his full readiness to achieve this goal.
In turn, Tajik Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda expressed his gratitude for the hospitality and warm welcome. He noted the importance of holding the first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Council in terms of further developing and strengthening bilateral cooperation in various areas.

Kohir Rasulzoda stressed that developing good-neighborly relations with Kyrgyzstan is a priority area of Tajikistan's foreign policy.

He expressed the Tajik side's readiness to implement the ambitious tasks set by the leaders of the two countries.

During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and other areas.
