Plans to build multi-storey blocks in villages due to a shortage of land

In Kyrgyzstan, due to a shortage of available plots of land for private housing construction, the authorities intend to promote the construction of multi-storey blocks in rural areas. This was announced by the country’s President, Sadyr Zhaparov, on his Facebook page.

According to him, in many villages there is virtually no land left that can be allocated for the construction of private homes.

“For example, in a village with a population of around 500 households, some 200 young families are queuing to receive a plot of land,” noted the head of state.

In light of this, the state’s housing policy will gradually shift from expanding the boundaries of settlements towards making more efficient use of existing land.

One of the solutions being considered by the authorities is the construction of multi-storey housing in villages. According to the President, the construction of buildings ranging from three to five storeys high has already begun in certain settlements.

In the near future, the head of state intends to visit such sites to show residents the benefits of the new approach and to demonstrate that multi-storey housing can be in demand not only in towns and cities, but also in rural areas.

According to the authorities, the shift towards high-rise housing construction will help reduce pressure on land resources and provide housing for a greater number of young families.
