The UK has updated its travel advice for Kyrgyzstan ahead of the Nomad Games

The UK Foreign Office has updated its advice for travellers heading to Kyrgyzstan for the World Nomad Games. Tourists are advised to keep an eye on announcements from airlines and tour operators, and to check their insurance cover.

The update was published on the UK government’s website on 26 August. A separate section dedicated to the Nomad Games has been added to the advice.

It notes that the opening ceremony will take place on 31 August at the Bishkek Arena stadium, after which the events will continue in the Issyk-Kul region from 1 to 6 September.

Before travelling, the FCDO recommends checking the latest information with your airline or tour operator, reviewing your insurance policy and keeping an eye on reports in the local and international media. Travellers are also advised to sign up for alerts regarding changes to the advice.

In its general guidelines, the department reminds travellers that insurance must cover the planned itinerary, activities and expenses in the event of an emergency.
