Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade: turnover declined due to a drop in metal exports

In January–October 2025, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $12.8 billion, down $1.5 billion compared to the same period last year. The main contributor to the decline was exports, which fell by 38.2% in annual terms.

The key reason for the decline in exports was a sharp reduction in the value of shipments of base metals, which fell 2.5 times. This segment previously accounted for a significant portion of export revenues, so its decline had a noticeable impact on the overall picture of foreign trade.

Imports remained relatively stable. In January–October 2025, their value decreased by only 0.3% year-on-year. The decline is primarily due to a decrease in imports of machinery and equipment, which may indicate more cautious investment activity by businesses in the context of the changing external economic environment.
