    Kyrgyzstan's domestic debt in April increased by almost 14 billion KGS

    At the end of April 2025, Kyrgyzstan's domestic debt represented by government bonds placed at the National Bank auctions reached 193 billion 230.8 million KGS. Compared to the beginning of the month, when securities worth 179.57 billion KGS were in circulation, the growth amounted to 13 billion 659.5 million KGS.

    The main contribution to the debt buildup was made by placement of:

    • 3-year bonds for 6.7 bln KGS (and redemption for 120 mln);

    • 5-year bonds - by 857 million KGS;

    • 7-year bonds - for 460 million KGS;

    • 15-year bonds - by 5.8 bln KGS.

    The first movement in the debt structure was recorded on April 3, when the Ministry of Finance fully repaid obligations on 2-year securities, paying KGS 37.52 million. Already on April 7, the debt began to build up - by placing 3-year GKOs for 1.7 bln KGS.

    Another change occurred on April 14, when the National Bank's reports reflected the placement of 7-year bonds for 460 million KGS - on that day the volume of domestic debt amounted to 181.69 billion KGS.

    On April 18, redemption of 3-year securities for KGS 120 million was recorded, but the next day the Ministry of Finance compensated this volume by issuing additional 3-year and 5-year GKOs for KGS 5 billion and KGS 857 million, respectively.

    The final debt growth in April occurred on the 28th, when the government placed 15-year bonds for 5.8 bln KGS, which allowed reaching the total domestic debt of 193.23 bln KGS. Thus, April was a month of active increase in debt obligations, especially at the expense of long-term securities.
