Water from sacred springs will unite the regions of Kyrgyzstan

The ‘Caravan of Unity’ project has officially launched in the Batken region as part of the preparations for the 6th World Nomad Games.

The key symbol of the project’s launch was a ritual to collect water from the sacred Suu-Bashy spring, located at the foot of a mountain above the village of Kara-Bulak in the Batken district. The water was collected in a specially crafted traditional vessel.

It is precisely this water, collected during the project from sacred springs across all regions of Kyrgyzstan, that will become the central symbol of the “Caravan of Unity”. It will be brought from different regions of the country and combined in a single vessel, which will be used in the ceremonial events of the 6th World Nomad Games.

Following the ritual in Batken, a symbolic caravan procession took place to the central square of the regional capital.

The event was attended by Mamyrzhan Rakhimov, the President’s Plenipotentiary Representative in the Batken Region. He noted that the project aims to strengthen national unity, harmony and solidarity among the people of Kyrgyzstan.

Particular attention was paid during the event to the symbolism of water as an element of life, purity and the unification of the country’s regions. It is precisely through the collection of water from different sources that the project fosters the idea of a unified cultural and spiritual space in Kyrgyzstan.

Partner organisations are also involved in the project. The official bank of the 6th World Nomad Games – ‘ABank’ – provided a special platform for the symbolic vessel of water. Transport support for the caravan is provided with the support of Chevrolet Kyrgyzstan.
With the participation of the UNICEF Children’s Fund, a children’s caravan was organised, during which demonstration programmes of national games were held for children and teenagers.

The ‘Caravan of Unity’ project will continue its journey through the regions of Kyrgyzstan, where water will be collected from sacred springs to be subsequently combined into a single symbol of the Games.
