Vyacheslav Kim sold shares in Kaspi for nearly $87 million

Vyacheslav Kim, co-owner of Kaspi and the controlling shareholder of the parent company of Kyrgyzstan’s Optima Bank, continues to reduce his stake in the fintech company.

According to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, between 10 March and 4 June 2026, Kim sold 1 million American Depositary Shares (ADSs) of Kaspi. The total value of the transactions amounted to $86.69 million. Each ADS corresponds to one ordinary share in the company. The sales were carried out under a pre-approved trading plan dated 9 December 2025.

The reduction in his holding has also been confirmed by the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange. As at 1 April, Kim held 39,424,247 Kaspi shares, and as at 1 July — 38,110,080 shares. Thus, over this period, his holding decreased by 1,314,167 shares.

Kim’s stake in the total number of ordinary shares in circulation fell from 20.75% to 20.06%. He remains Kaspi’s second-largest shareholder after Mikhail Lomtadze, who holds 23.04 per cent.

These transactions are significant for Kyrgyzstan because, in July 2025, Kim acquired Alatau City Bank – formerly Jusan Bank. His shares are now held by United Group Alatau, an entity controlled by the businessman. The bank’s press office reported the completion of the transaction.

Alatau City Bank, in turn, is the main shareholder of Optima Bank. According to the latest data from the Kyrgyz bank itself, it holds 97.14 per cent of the paid-up share capital — not 100 per cent, as previously stated.

Following the arrival of the new owner, Optima Bank’s capital was increased by 3.4 billion KGS — this represents the bank’s largest capital injection in recent years.
