The increase was implemented in accordance with a decree by the President of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the ministry, whilst medical experts previously earned around 14,000 KGS and commission chairpersons around 25,000 KGS, the salaries of specialists at regional MSECs now range from 50,000 to 60,000 KGS, taking into account length of service and allowances. In high-altitude regions, payments reach 80,000–90,000 KGS.
The ministry notes that the pay rise should reduce the risk of corruption and improve the quality of work carried out by the medical and social commissions.
