150 Kyrgyz citizens will be able to receive free treatment in Turkish hospitals under a quota system

Health Minister Damir Osmonov met with Mekin Mustafa Kemal Okema, Turkey’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kyrgyz Republic. During the meeting, the parties discussed key issues of Kyrgyz-Turkish cooperation in the field of healthcare.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the programme sending Kyrgyz citizens for treatment in Turkey under free quotas. It was noted that 150 quotas are allocated annually, under which Kyrgyz citizens have the opportunity to receive high-quality medical care in Turkish state clinics free of charge.

The parties also discussed issues relating to the training of medical personnel. The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in further expanding internship programmes for domestic specialists at leading Turkish clinics, lasting between 3 and 6 months. A list of specialists for the internship has already been drawn up and will be sent to the Turkish side shortly.

Particular attention was paid to developing cooperation in the field of organ transplantation, including the exchange of expertise, the professional development of specialists, and further collaboration at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital.

Health Minister Damir Osmanov emphasised that our country is keen to deepen its partnership with Turkey, including in terms of improving the skills of medical specialists and expanding citizens’ access to high-tech medical care.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further develop cooperation and implement joint initiatives in the field of healthcare.
