83 per cent of pensioners in Kyrgyzstan receive their pensions via bank accounts

The proportion of non-cash payments in Kyrgyzstan continues to rise. By the end of 2025, 679,800 people – or 83 per cent of all pensioners – were receiving their pensions via accounts with commercial banks.

A year earlier, this figure stood at 645,100 people, or 81 per cent of the total number of pensioners, according to the 2025 annual report of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Social benefits have also been almost entirely transferred to a cashless format. A total of 250,300 people, or 99.4 per cent of all recipients, received funds via accounts with commercial banks. In 2024, this figure stood at 285,100 people, or 99.2 per cent.

Furthermore, as part of the State Programme to Increase Non-Cash Payments and Settlements, the use of digital tools in the social sector is being expanded.

In 2025, 439 ‘budget fund recipient’ cards were in use within budgetary organisations. A total of 1,818 transactions were carried out via these cards, amounting to 1.02 billion KGS.

By way of comparison, in 2024, 481 such cards were in use, through which 1,968 transactions totalling 4.76 billion KGS were processed.
