Air Astana to purchase up to 15 Boeing 787-9 aircraft

Air Astana has signed a major deal with Boeing for the delivery of Boeing 787-9 wide-body aircraft. The relevant information has been disclosed on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange.

According to the deal, the airline is acquiring five Boeing 787-9 aircraft, as well as five additional options and five rights to purchase similar aircraft. Thus, the potential order volume could reach 15 aircraft.

The contract was signed on February 9. The term of performance is from the date of signing the contract until all deliveries under the contract are completed (including the exercise of purchase rights, if any). Boeing is the counterparty to the transaction.

The transaction is classified as a major transaction. The amount of the obligations exceeds 25% of the airline's assets, which required the appropriate approval of the authorized bodies. The date of the decision by the joint-stock company's governing body

on the major transaction is January 15, 2026.

The purchase of Boeing 787-9s, a new generation of long-haul aircraft, indicates Air Astana's plans to expand its route network and strengthen its position in the international transport segment.
