Antimonopoly Service names reasons for rise in chicken egg prices

In order to stabilize the situation on the chicken egg market and prevent unjustified price increases, the Antimonopoly Service held meetings with representatives of the Poultry Farmers Association, Umai Group LLC, Asia Retail CJSC, Borsok Invest LLC, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.

The meeting participants noted that chicken egg supplies have currently decreased due to the need to renew laying hens, as well as scheduled vaccination of chickens (during the vaccination period, the productivity of laying hens decreases by at least 30 days, which reduces production volume), and seasonal factors.

The increase in chicken egg prices occurred as part of a simultaneous increase in wholesale prices by poultry farms.

The reason for the increase in wholesale prices was the rise in the cost of feed, logistics, packaging, and the presence of intermediaries in the republic's markets.

The service sent a warning to the Poultry Farmers Association about the inadmissibility of actions that could lead to the restriction, prevention, or elimination of competition. The Poultry Farmers Association was recommended to work with participants and intermediaries, review its pricing policy, and ensure transparency in setting the price of chicken eggs on the market.
