The Orto-Alysh water intake provides water to 40% of Bishkek residents — the mayor inspected the work

40% of Bishkek residents receive drinking water from the Orto-Alysh water intake. On March 12, 2026, Mayor Aibek Junushaliyev personally inspected the progress of work at this strategic facility.

Currently, the recharge lakes are being cleaned and preparations are underway for the construction of the 12th recharge lake, which will stabilize the capital's groundwater. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year so that there are no interruptions in the water supply in the summer.

The mayor instructed to check the legality of all facilities near the water intake and to speed up the implementation of the project, emphasizing that water quality and uninterrupted supply are important for tens of thousands of city residents.

Other facilities inspected — a transport interchange, a new Young Technicians Station, and the building of kindergarten No. 131 — are important, but Dzhushaliev's attention was focused specifically on the water supply, which directly affects almost half of the city.
